Dr. Fred G. Buzen Jr. has been teaching at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and Arts since the fall of 2001. Prior to coming to ASMSA, he was working on his doctorate in biochemistry at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he investigated possible treatments for peanut allergy. In addition to his Ph.D., he has a Master of Science degree in plant pathology from Kansas State University, a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Henderson State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in botany from the University of Maine. His work experience includes work as a research scientist for the Olin Corporation, a technical representative for SKW Trostberg, and a research scientist for Ouachita Baptist University. Also, he has experience raising cattle and hay on a small farm in Arkadelphia, where he lives.
