Art Instructor and Graphic Designer
Fred Zipkes was born in New York and grew up in Hot Springs. He attended the University of Arkansas and graduated the University of Houston with a B.F.A. degree with majors in art and history. He began a professional career as a graphic designer and art director.
During his professional career he worked throughout the U.S. including New York and San Francisco while becoming a senior vice president and creative director for major world-wide advertising agencies. His work has won national and international awards for film and print. After moving back to Hot Springs he taught graphic design at Henderson State University and Ouachita Baptist University as an adjunct professor. Currently active in various non-profit organizations, Fred sits on the Board for the Buckstaff Bathhouse in Hot Springs.
He teaches graphic design and journalism and serves as ASMSA’s graphic designer.
