e-Resources

The library has compiled a list of free web resources that are useful for reliable, validated research. Each site has been reviewed and selected by a member of the library staff, and the links are updated regularly. Websites are grouped by subject area. Some sites may appear under more than one heading. If you would like to suggest a link that might be good for research, please send us an email.

(This is an ongoing project that is currently under construction. For help with e-resources, speak with the librarian.)

What about Wikipedia?

Use Wikipedia wisely. Keep the following guidelines in mind.

DO use Wikipedia:

  • to establish background information and context.
  • to narrow or broaden a topic.
  • to help you define unfamiliar terms.
  • to create a list of search terms.
  • to find links to other online resources.

But remember:

  • Wikipedia is not reliable enough to be used as a resource for academic research.
  • You should not use information from Wikipedia directly in your research without validating it first!

Use the warnings provided by Wikipedia! They will help you determine how trustworthy the information contained in an entry is.
