Two students qualify for national FBLA competition

Two students from the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts have qualified to compete at the National Future Business Leaders of America Leadership Conference this summer.

Kevin Fialkowski, a junior from Heber Springs, won first place in Technology Concepts at the Arkansas FBLA State Leadership Conference held April 8-9 in Little Rock. Senior Amanda Rabalais of Hot Springs won second place in Business Law at the state conference.

Fialkowski and Rabalais qualified to compete at the national conference to be held June 25 through July 1 in Anaheim, Calif.

Other ASMSA students who competed at the state competition include Claire Smith in Business Calculations; and Ashley Semiche, in Business Communication. Smith is a junior from Oden, and Semiche is a junior from West Memphis.

The four students qualified to compete in the state competition based on their performance in the District IV Spring Conference competition, held Jan. 30 at the Hot Springs Convention Center. Fialkowski  won first place in Technology Concepts, Rabalais won first place in Business Law, Semiche won second place in Business Communication and Smith won third place in Business Calculation at the district competition.

Carl Frank, a computer science instructor, serves as the adviser for ASMSA’s FBLA.

FBLA-Phi Beta Lambda is the largest business career student organization in the world. The high school division has 215,000 members.
