ASMSA welcomes Class of 2013

Arkansas School for Mathematics Sciences and the Arts is welcoming one of its largest junior classes to campus as the new school year begins Aug. 11. This year’s junior class includes 134 students from 53 of Arkansas’ 75 counties.

ASMSA is one of 13 public, residential high schools in the country specializing in the education of juniors and seniors with a special aptitude for math and science. The 86 seniors in the 2011 graduating class received more than $15 million in scholarship offers.

ASMSA is open to all Arkansas students who meet the academic criteria and offers free tuition, room and board for all students. Beginning enrollment for the 2011-2012 school year is 239 students representing 60 counties.

The juniors arrived on campus Aug. 6 and will attend orientation sessions the following week. The seniors move in on Aug. 10 and classes begin Aug. 11 with opening convocation at 8 a.m.

The juniors entering ASMSA this year will get to spend their senior year living in the new residential halls under construction. ASMSA broke ground on a new Student Life Complex in the summer of 2010. The residential halls will be complete by Dec. 31, 2011, with students moving into the building in August 2012.

ASMSA is located in historic downtown Hot Springs and is a campus of the University of Arkansas System.
