The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts recently announced the awardees for several summer research fellowships designated for students.

The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts received the Downtown Hot Springs Trailblazer of the Year Award in the 2018 Economic Development Awards.

Students at The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts were recognized for their academic achievements for the 2018-19 year at the annual Honors Day Convocation held May 20.

A team from the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts won Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s third annual All-State Coding Competition held May 18 at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Those were the words of advice former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton offered the 102 students in the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts Class of 2019 during their commencement ceremony at Bank OZK Arena on May 25.

Rachel Stall, a senior at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts, has been named a U.S. Presidential Scholar.

Studying the arts and humanities can help us better understand the facts of science and mathematics and provide an opportunity to better understand ourselves.

That’s the message that Don Baker shared in his opening address of the first Arts and Humanities Capstone Symposium at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts on Friday morning. Baker, who holds a Ph.D. in political science, currently serves as an economic and commercial officer at the U.S. Embassy in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He has also served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Poland, Mexico and Jamaica. Before he began his career as a foreign service officer, Baker served as a humanities instructor at ASMSA for six years.

It’s not surprising that cell phone service in parts of Peru don’t exist. It’s not like Machu Picchu is a thriving metropolis these days. So when Emily Smith — a junior from Cabot at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts — missed a few calls and texts while participating in a recent tour of Peru as part of the school’s Global Learning Program, it wasn’t a big deal.

What was a big deal was the news that those messages contained — Smith had just received notice that she had earned a perfect score—a 36— on her most recent ACT test. In February, she took the universal ACT test, which every junior in Arkansas took for free.

The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts will hold its first Arts and Humanities Research Capstone Symposium on May 3. It will include a morning address by Don Baker, the economic and commercial officer for the U.S. Embassy in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Several students from the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts earned recognition at the recent Arkansas Young Artist Association Spring Competition and Convention.
