The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts Brand Guide provides general information and guidelines for the use of the school logo, institutional information, school colors, school seal and other subjects. This information is both helpful and necessary in order to protect the school's image and brand while presenting a unified image across all campus departments. Please read each category below carefully. Share specific questions with the school's Public Information Specialist or the ASMSA Director by email for assistance.
ASMSA’s logo supports the brand of the school. The logo features an equilateral triangle with a two-fold flame in the middle called the Delta flame. The mark honors the previous logo by including a flame while offering some additional features that reinforce the values of the school:
- The three equilateral sides of the triangle represent the institution’s equal commitment to its academic programs — mathematics, sciences, and the arts, which are all part of the school’s mandated mission.
- The combination of the triangle and flame creates a stylized A for Arkansas and symbolizes the school’s dedication to providing the state’s public school students and teachers—both on campus and in districts throughout the state—with unique learning and professional development opportunities.
- The top of the triangle points upward, representing a commitment to innovation that leads to a more diverse workforce able to meet the growing technological, financial and intellectual needs of the state’s growing economy.
BASICS ON USE OF LOGO
- Use a master art file; don’t recreate the logo yourself. If you need a specific size/orientation/color, request it.
- Be careful not to stretch or distort the image. Be sure to change the size proportionately.
- DO NOT alter the size of individual elements of the logo or position the logo at an angle.
- The Delta flame should not be separated from the school’s name except in special circumstances. You must seek approval from the Public Affairs Office and the Director for alteration of the logo.
The main consideration for correct use of the logo is determined by how and where it will be used. All uses of the logo should be submitted to the Public Affairs Office and Director for approval before being officially printed, embroidered, or any other use.
- Stacked Logo: This is the primary logo for most uses. This is the logo used on the letterhead and should appear in the majority of print materials. It’s primary design is two colors, but it may be adapted to be used as one color or up to three colors. Variations depend on the background of the project.
- Horizontal (Wide) Logo: This is to be used mostly when the vertical stacked logo will not fit the design scheme. It may be used in one, two or three colors.
- Acronym with mark: This should be primarily limited to apparel or promotional objects where text may not print at smaller sizes. It is also the preferred format for specific campus departments, programs, organizations, student groups. Contact the Public Relations Office for appropriate artwork to use in these situations. Project must be submitted for approval by the Public Relations Office and Director.
- Mark with abbreviated Math Sci Arts abbreviation: This is an alternate logo primarily used for apparel. It references the school’s history and public awareness as “the math and science school” while drawing specific attention to the inclusion and importance of the arts as part of our mission. The mark also reflects ASMSA’s social handles, which are typically ARMathSciArts. It may be approved for other uses as appropriate that allow for a more casual use of the mark/name. Uses must be submitted and approved by the Public Affairs Office and Director.
DO NOT place the logo over a patterned or busy background. If the logo does not stand out enough against the original background, create a secondary background to place on top of the original background on which the logo may rest.
BLACK-AND-WHITE LOGOS/REVERSED LOGOS
Use of the two-color official mark is strongly encouraged when feasible, but some usage situations may require the logo to appear as one color — either solid black or solid white. The solid-black logo would be used only on a document that is all black-and-white. The solid-white logo would be used with dark backgrounds.
The logo may be used as a one-color solid blue or yellow matching the official school colors or in combination with white in some instances.
Contact the Public Relations Office or Director for appropriate artwork to use. Project must be submitted for approval by the Public Affairs Office and Director.
CYBORG DOLPHIN LOGO
The Cyborg Dolphin Logo may be used in limited situations. It is mainly for use on promotional items such as clothing, mugs, key chains, etc. Contact the Public Relations Office or Director for appropriate artwork to use. Project must be submitted for approval by the Public Relations Office and Director.
LINK FOR LOGOS
A folder containing .png and .pdf files of approved logos for use by the ASMSA community may be found here.
A color template and black-and-white template of the letterhead is available for use. The left-hand side of the letterhead is reserved for the logo and campus information. Text margins for the first page are 2.25-inches on the left and 0.5 inches at the top, bottom and right. Margins for the second page and after are 0.5 inches on all sides. When using the template, users will need to manually change the margins beginning on Page 2.
If correspondence will remain on one page, text of the letter may begin evenly with bottom of the logo.
Suggested text is 11 or 12 point Times New Roman.
Templates for a two-color and black-and-white versions of the templates may be found here. A limited amount of pre-printed color letterhead is available. It is stored in the Finance Department closet. Envelopes are available as well. There is a supply of No. 10 envelopes, 6 ½ x 9 ½ inch envelopes and 10 x 13 inch envelopes are available for official use.
Business cards and name tags are available to order for all employees if necessary. One name tag is provided at no cost to employees upon initial employment. Additional name tags may be ordered through the Finance Department using the Name Tag Template available on the Faculty and Staff Resources page. Additional name tags must be paid for through the employee's appropriate department budget. Business cards may also be purchased through the Finance Department. A Business Card Order Form is also available on the Faculty and Staff Resources page. Name tags and business cards must be ordered using the order forms and use the vendors provided through the Finance Department to use the correct style in order to maintain consistency across campus.
The official font for the logo is Gotham. DO NOT substitute a different font for the text in the logo. Some recommended fonts that work well in text as a Gotham companion include Times New Roman, Avenir, and Lucida Grande.
The official school colors (other than black or white as needed) are the only colors that should be used with the ASMSA logo/nameplate. Information on official school colors is available below. A PDF with the appropriate information and sample colors may also be found here.

Social media (including but not limited to blogs, message boards, micro blogging sites such as Twitter, social networking sites such as Facebook, and LinkedIn as well as other websites, “chat” forums, and messaging apps) can be a valuable tool for educators. The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and Arts (ASMSA) offers the following cautionary guidelines to help faculty and staff in assuring that their usage of these tools is consistent with the spirit and intent of the Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators and the ASMSA Employee Handbook:
1. Faculty and staff interactions with students on social media should be confined to academic and residential life issues.
2. To the extent possible, faculty and staff should use the social-networking tools provided through school accounts to communicate with students rather than tools available through their own personal accounts. ASMSA reserves complete discretion to monitor and remove offensive or inappropriate postings on school accounts.
3. When asked, parents/guardians and appropriate school officials will be provided a written explanation of the academic purpose for the use of social media by faculty and staff. The written explanation will be provided by the individual faculty or staff member using social media.
4. Faculty and staff should regularly check for inappropriate material on any social media site that they use for exchange of academic and residential life information to which their students and/or public can view or post. Any such material should be reported to
ASMSA administration.
5. Faculty and staff are prohibited from disclosing through social media confidential ASMSA information regarding students.
CREATING SCHOOL-AFFILIATED ACCOUNTS
ASMSA has official social media channels on various platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snapchat, and Vimeo. School clubs/organizations may consider creating their own school-affiliated accounts, but they should contact the Public Information Specialist and the Director before doing so. When approval is granted, the club sponsor as well as the club leaders should provide account information, including the name of the account as well as the login information to the Public Information Specialist. Logos should be also be approved, especially when using the ASMSA name/logo in any fashion. An appropriate logo/account image may be provided by submitting a request to the Public Information Specialist by email.
School-Affiliated Accounts should follow the ASMSA Social Media Policy as stated above.
Following are examples of language that may be used to quickly and effectively describe ASMSA and its mission.

Contextual description
The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts is one of seventeen* public, residential high schools in the country specializing in the education of talented and motivated students who have an interest and aptitude for mathematics and science as well as a passion for creativity, humanities, and the arts.
*This number does shift from time to time. It most recently adjusted in 2020 with the opening of the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering and in 2021 with the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics’ second campus in Morgantown. We used 17 in the Strategic Plan to reflect those on the horizon.
