18 ASMSA student musicians earn All-Region recognition

Eighteen student musicians at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts qualified for the Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association Region II Senior High All-Region Concert Band.

Twelve students placed in the first band and qualified for All-State auditions, a new record of All-State qualifiers for ASMSA.  All-State auditions will be held Feb. 7-8 at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. Four band members were selected for Region II’s All-Region second band, and two others were selected as alternates

The students who were selected for All-Region recognition are:

• Beckett Beam, a junior from Russellville, 1^st band, 2^nd chair, tuba, All-State qualifier;
• Jena Brown, a senior from Hope, 1^st band, 5^th chair, euphonium, All-State qualifier;
• Gage Carr, a senior from Paris, 1^st band, 12^th chair, clarinet, All-State qualifier;
• Jacob Clingan, 2^nd band, 9^th chair, percussion;
• Giea de los Reyes, a junior from Hot Springs, 1^st band, 1^st chair, percussion, All-State qualifier;
• Jordan Gauldin, a junior from Foreman, 1^st band, 4^th chair, horn, All-State qualifier;
• Nathan Grady, a junior from Blytheville, 1^st band, 5^th chair, trombone, All-State qualifier;
• Claira Hartig, a junior from Greenbrier, alternate, trombone;
• Bryce Jackson, a junior from Salem, alternate, trumpet;
• Rebekah Johnson, a sophomore from Sherwood, 2^nd chair, alto saxophone;
• Miranda Lee, a junior from Conway, 2^nd band, 1^st chair, flute;
• Sophia Lee, a junior from Russellville, 1^st band, 2^nd chair, oboe, All-State qualifier;
• Jacob Lewis, a junior from Clinton, 1^st band, 1^st chair, flute, All-State qualifier;
• Colton Melson, a junior from Nasvhille, 1^st band, 1^st chair, baritone saxophone;
• Kayleigh Murphy, a senior from Alexander, 1^st band, 2^nd chair, bass clarinet, All-State qualifier;
• Saylor Ross, a senior from Crossett, 2^nd band, 13^th chair, trumpet;
• Ezekiel Summers, a senior from Paragould, 1^st band, 1^st chair, tenor saxophone, All-State qualifier; and
• Faith Wesley, a junior from Hot Springs, 1^st band, 1^st chair, clarinet, All-State qualifier.

The auditions for Region II were held Jan. 21, and the All-Region Clinic is being held at Lake Hamilton High School on Jan. 24-25. Concerts for the All-Region bands will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 25 in the Lake Hamilton High School auditorium.
