The 2018 West Central Regional Science Fair and Senior Research Symposium Public Viewing Day will be held Thursday, Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Arkansas School for Mathematics Sciences and Arts. Students will be with their projects from 1 to 3 p.m. that day.
STEM-related projects will be displayed in the chapel and Faculty Hall buildings. Senior Research Symposium projects, which focus on humanities projects, will be on display on the third floor of the Administration Building. Students may also complete a portfolio capstone project in place of a research paper. Students are completing portfolios in several areas including art, music, creative writing, filmmaking and other subjects.
This is an opportunity to see some of the top research projects by high school students in the state. ASMSA has won first place overall at the state high school science fair for five years in a row. Last year, ASMSA sent eight students to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, the largest high school science fair competition in the world. Five students earned recognition at the 2017 ISEF, including two students who received Grand Awards.
An awards ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at First Presbyterian Church at 213 Whittington Ave.
