Five Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts students earned honors at the Arkansas Future Business Leader of America State Conference and qualified to compete in the national competition this summer.
ASMSA had 16 students compete at the 2022 FBLA State Conference that was held April 4-5. Ten of those students earned recognition in their individual categories. Students who placed in the top four of their category qualified to compete at the FBLA National Conference that will be held in Chicago on June 27-July 3.
Students who qualified for the national competition include:
- Trey Clark, a senior from Harrison, third place, Data Analysis;
- Carter Horton, a sophomore from Conway, third place, Introduction to Business Concepts;
- Abigail Finney, a junior from Pocahontas, third place, Job Interview; and
- the team of Madison Arenaz, a junior from Piggott, and Blake Smith, a senior from London, first place, Marketing.
Other students who earned state recognition include:
- Vicky Zhu, a junior from El Dorado, seventh place, Business Calculations;
- Bear Moore, fa senior from Hampton, fifth place, Cyber Security;
- Bethany Catron, a junior from Peel, fifth place, Economics;
- Arindam Deb, a senior from Beebe, fifth place, Political Science; and
- Izzy Funes, a junior from Conway, sixth place, Social Media Strategies.
In the event one of the top four qualifiers in an event are unable to attend the national conference, the fifth-place finisher may be invited to compete.
Senior Blake Smith of London completed his term as District IV FBLA President and State FBLA Vice President, representing District IV, for the 2021-22 academic year.
