Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts students received three first place awards at the District IV FBLA Spring Conference held Jan. 26 at the Hot Springs Convention Center.
Placing first were: Pooja Mehta and Roshni Patel, banking and financial systems; Nora Bouzihay, job interview; and Zach Lovin, technology concepts. They qualified to compete in the State FBLA Conference, April 4-5 in Little Rock.
Annie Wang was elected as the District IV FBLA vice president for the 2011-12 school year. Nicole Hinman was elected as the District IV FBLA parliamentarian for the 2011-12 school year, based on the highest score on the Parliamentary Procedure exam given to applicants for that position.
Also qualifying to compete at the state FBLA conference were: Maliha Bhatti and Julie Rhee, 2nd place, digital video production; Jessica Cagle and Jenny Son, 2nd place, entrepreneurship; Tait Clements, 3rd place, spreadsheet applications; Alec Crow and Calvin MacKenzie, 3rd place (tie), website development; Tina Phan, 3rd place, word processing II; Natasha Sra, 3rd place, public speaking; Nicole Hinman, 4th place, business calculations; Tammy Huynh, 4th place, accounting 1; Katrina Sowell, 4th place, business law; Annie Wang, 4th place, business ethics.
The following students will compete in state only events at the State Conference: Leila Wang, client service; Luke Brown, desktop application programming; Anjali Patel and Alex Windle, digital design and promotion.
