ASMSA teams take top spots in spring Stock Market Game

Teams from the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts swept the divisions of the Spring 2023 Stock Market Game sponsored by Economics Arkansas. One team also won the yearlong division.

The team of Christian Lu and Walker Daniels won the Region 2 spring high school competition while the team of Jaden Williams and Aarohi Sonputri took the After School division. Lu and Daniels also won the state yearlong division with a portfolio of $214,415.67.

The Stock Market Game is a national program of the SIFMA Foundation that allows students and teachers the opportunity to invest a virtual $100,000 in stocks, bonds and mutual funds in a simulation contest. The seasonal competition is a 13-week simulation each school semester. The yearlong session begins in September and ends in April. Economics Arkansas sponsors the game in Arkansas.

Members of the Region and After School division teams win $125 to be split among team members. Lue and Daniels also earned $250 to split between each other for the top overall portfolio.

The teams were recognized for their accomplishments during a luncheon on May 4 at the Little Rock Convention Center. ASMSA also had teams recognized from the Fall 2022 Stock Market Game, the Arkansas Personal Finance Challenge and the Arkansas Economics Challenge at the event.
