Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts will host the unveiling of a painting featuring international opera star Marjorie Lawrence on Sunday, June 19. An exhibition and reception will be held in the ASMSA lobby from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. with the unveiling in the boardroom at 2 p.m.
Please join ASMSA and The Marjorie Lawrence Project for the celebration of Hot Springs artist Daisy McDonald’s 3' x 5' portrait of the Australian soprano and Garland County resident who, in her debut as the heroic Brünnhilde in Götterdämmerung at the Met in 1936, gave her landmark performance of the Immolation Scene by riding a horse across the stage as composer Richard Wagner had intended.
Contributors of the Marjorie Lawrence Project fund are invited to choose the title of McDonald’s painting at this opening event. Donations may be made at any Summit Bank branch location.
The artwork will be on public display at another downtown location this summer. Beneficiaries of the Project include the Garland County Historical Society and local arts charities.
ASMSA is located at 200 Whittington Avenue in downtown Hot Springs.
